password control

Hi,

At the moment a username and password is needed to read the CrossTech blog in addition to needing an account to post entries. However, it may be better to take off the access control to read the blog - this would mean that services like Technorati and Google could index the blog, which they can't do at the moment and posting to the blog would be public.

As people come on to the list maybe the first thing to comment on is whether we should take off the access control to read the blog. What to people think?

Well, at first I was dead against this, and preferred to keep our discussions private to allow us to be able to say whatever we wanted, but recently I have (or at least I must have) undergone a Damascene experience and now think it should be fully open for reading. We've nothing to hide really, have we? (No, I didn't think so, too.) And there's some folks out there (librraians and whatnot) who would be very interested to track (and possibly cite) the blog;. We could do a lot worse.

Cheers,

Tony

Presumably xanadu would stay private..

we have taken the top level password control off so anyone can read this blog but you need an account to post entries
