Recommendations for CrossCheck Plagiarism Screening
CrossCheck plagiarism screening participants should publicly identify their membership in CrossCheck through the use of CrossCheck Depositor and CrossCheck Deposited logos.
- Each publisher should create a CrossCheck Information page - a web page that explains CrossCheck and links to the CrossCheck web page (http://www.crossref.org/crosscheck.html). Sample copy for this page can be found below.
- CrossCheck participants should place a "CrossCheck Depositor" logo on the home page of publications that have been deposited in the CrossCheck database. The CrossCheck Depositor logo should link to the CrossCheck Information page described in (1). We would also encourage you to place CrossCheck and iThenticate logos and information in your Instructions for Authors and, if possible, at the point of manuscript submission to inform authors about plagiarism screening and provide them with the opportunity to pre-screen their manuscripts using iThenticate for Researchers.
- CrossCheck participants are encouraged to include the CrossCheck Depositor logo on their printed journals.
- Each content item (i.e. journal article or book chapter) that has been deposited in CrossCheck may also carry the"CrossCheck Deposited" logo. This logo should link to the information page described in (1) above.

iThenticate is also available to authors and researchers who wish to check their papers before submission. iThenticate compares submitted documents to extensive data repositories to create a comprehensive Similarity Report, which highlights and provides links to any significant text matches, helping to ensure that you are submitting an original and well-attributed document. iThenticate for Researchers is a separate service to CrossCheck.
