The billing of the 2008 annual membership fees is coming up soon. Invoices will be mailed out in mid-December. We would also like to remind everyone that the CrossRef annual membership fees have increased for 2008.
2008 Billing Changes - please be aware that there are two key billing changes for 2008. The first is that the Annual Membership fees are changing
- there are increases in each of the fee categories and a new top tier. This is the first increase in fees in four years.
More information on the 2008 fees is available on the publishers' fee page:
http://www.crossref.org/02publishers/20pub_fees.html
The second change is that CrossRef will be offering the option of prepaying deposit fees at the beginning of the year.
If a member decides to use the prepay option CrossRef will issue an invoice for 2008 deposit fees based on the previous year's deposits. At the end of 2008 a reconciliation against actual deposits will be made and any difference will be applied to the next invoice. Adopting this billing method means that you will only have to pay one CrossRef invoice per year - this may save some publishers money on bank wire charges. The board also approved the provision that if a member has 3 or more invoices that go more than 90 days overdue in a year then they will be required to use the prepay payment method. The number of invoices more than 90 days overdue has grown and collections are taking up more staff time so please ensure that your organization pays invoices promptly. If you are interested in taking advantage of prepaid billing then please contact Lisa Hart - lhart@crossref.org - by mid-December.
