Elsevier Joins CrossRef Cited-by Linking
Elsevier now participates in CrossRef's Cited-by Linking Service. The service allows CrossRef member publishers 
to display links on an article page to other articles that cite that particular document. Elsevier joins over 200 publishers that deposit references from their scholarly content and display citing links from CrossRef publishers back to that content.

Elsevier joins over 200 publishers that deposit references from their scholarly content and display citing links from CrossRef publishers back to that content.Since August, CrossRef DOI-based cited-by links have been added to over 10 million Elsevier articles on SciVerse ScienceDirect. The next step in Elsevier's implementation will be to submit approximately 200 million references to CrossRef from its large library of scholarly publications. Depositing these references will allow other CrossRef members to display links to Elsevier articles that cite their content.
Portico to Preserve CrossRef Metadata
CrossRef and Portico announced last week an agreement in principle under which Portico will preserve CrossRef's bibliographic and reference metadata in the Portico archive. This agreement would act as an extra level of insurance to the scholarly community, which relies on reference linking services from CrossRef.

CrossCheck, CrossMark, focus of upcoming conference sessions
CrossRef Executive Director Ed Pentz will present an update on CrossRef activities at the STM E-Production Seminar in London on 2 December. He will also be on hand to deliver a Future Lab Flash Session spotlighting CrossRef's forthcoming CrossMark service at the STM Innovations Seminar on 3 December. CrossMark will provide researchers with tools to assess the creditability and currency of online research.
Carol Anne Meyer will provide information on the status of the CrossCheck plagiarism screening service powered by iThenticate at the 2010 Annual US Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) seminar in Washington DC on 30 November 2010.
