Abstract

Hydrogen-ion microscopy of titanium reveals crystallographic and topographical features of the specimen. Surface films initially present on the specimen as prepared and those formed by air oxidation at a higher temperature are described. The interaction of hydrogen with the specimen during microscopy to produce low index facets is also discussed.
