Abstract
Objective: To study the links between stagnation of the Liver-Qi and the pathogenesis of ulcerative colitis (UC) were studied clinically and experimentally. Methods: Using the principle of nourishing the Liver in the treated group and invigorating the Spleen in the control group. Results: The effective rate was 96% in the treated group and 82% in the control group, and the difference was significant (P<0.05); the formation rate of E rosettes and the transformation rate of lymphocytes were significantly raised in the two groups compared with the pre-treatment period, and the rate of adjusting dysfunction of vegetative nerve system in the treated group was evidently higher than that in the control group (P < 0.01). The level of intestinal styrenated phenol (SP) and vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP) of UC model were determined in rats, and results showed that the level of SP and VIP significantly increased in the UC model group. They were markedly lowered in the treated group compared with model group (P < 0. 01) and there was significant difference from the control group (P<0.01).Conclusion: Wei Chang Ning
, a drug to nourish the Liver, had the action of regulating neurological-endocrinological (gastrointestinal hormone)-immunological system.
