Twenty-seven cases of postherpetic neuralgia treated by surrounding electroacupuncture and acupoint injection

Abstract

Postherpetic neuralgia refers to persistent pain accompanied by paroxysmal pain after herpes zoster subsides. As a kind of persistent neuropathic pain, it is a clinically difficult disease in acupuncture. It mainly occurs in the elderly and is characterized by high incidence, severity, long duration, unbearable pain and etc. Our department in recent years has treated 27 cases of patients with such disease using surrounding electroacupuncture and acupoint injection and have obtained satisfactory curative effect. The report is as follows.
