Abstract

One hundred and twenty patients were randomized into two groups. The 68 cases in the treatment group received intensive warm needling therapy, and 52 cases in the control group was treated by small needle-knife therapy.

Results

The therapeutic effects were similar between the two groups. A follow-up study showed that the relapse rate was lower in the treatment group.

Conclusion

Both small knife-needle and intensive warm needling therapy are effective in treating the third lumbar transverse process syndrome. But, intensive warm needling therapy has easier operation and lower relapse rate.
