Metadata for reporting and assessment

Reporting and assessment may be carried out by a variety of organizations, including universities and funders, and for a variety of purposes, such as:

  • providing accountability for public investment in research and evidence of its benefits,
  • providing benchmarking information
  • demonstrating compliance with funder mandates, and
  • informing the selective allocation of funding for research.

The following metadata elements are particularly important for reporting and assessment:

  • ROR ID (affiliation)
  • ORCID iD, funder ID, grant ID, award number
  • Abstracts
  • References
  • Peer review reports
  • Links to preprints
  • Links to conference papers and posters
  • License URLs (for text and data mining)
